About Devil's Due
Devil’s Due Studios is home to a vast archive of fun, fearless, high concept comic books with a focus on supernatural, action, and sci-fi. Forged in the fires of the early 2000s indie comics scene by writer and artist Josh Blaylock, with millions of comics sold to date, Devil’s Due exists on the fringes of the comic book world.
Even More About Us...
Devil’s Due is known for igniting the first ‘80s nostalgia wave with the return of G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero in 2001 through Image Comics, and later G.I. Joe vs. Transformers and Voltron. Its prolific spectrum of licensed comics, from Child’s Play to Spartacus to Family Guy, and large Omnibus collections of titles like Dungeons & Dragons and Hack/Slash, reshaped the indie comic landscape, becoming a model for others to follow. Its old rallying cry, “Pop culture IS our culture,” embodied its mission to see geek culture recognized for its true significance in our modern day world, which its safe to say has been accomplished. Throughout the 2000s the studio would go on to break new talents, and now star creators, including Tim Seeley, Nei Ruffino, Jenny Frison, Mark Brooks, Francis Manapul, and more. Before Funko Pops dominated toy aisles, the studio collaborated with leaders in the late 2000s designer, vinyl toy scene, even releasing plush figures and comics with Kid Robot and Gameboy partnered Shawnimals, for plush toys and comics. In 2010-2014 its PopCultour events continuously brought together hundreds of attendees for comic-con adjacent parties and performances and top comic book talent to flex their lesser known creative muscles, from Marvel Comics EIC Joe Quesada joining bands on stage, to Jim Mahfood and Jason Shawn Alexander painting for live audiences, to music sets by the likes of DJ Maker, creator of the theme for Abbott Elementary. In 2012 it pioneered the first hybrid crowdfunding-to-comic-shops publishing model with the release of the full length rap album / graphic novel combo Yumiko: Curse of the Merch Girl with Living Legends star Murs, and continued to pioneer other hybrid models that are now accepted as standard, including its publishing of the hit webcomic Plume, and breaking new creator-owned talents like Ashley M Witter (Squarriors), Pat Shand of Space Between (Little Girl), and Darby creator Sherard Jackson (Galaxys for Hire). Twice it received whirlwinds of global, mainstream press with the smart political satires Barack the Barbarian: Quest for the Treasure of Stimuli and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the Freshman Force: New Party, Who Dis? and critical acclaim for Operation Nemesis: A Story of Genocide and Revenge, an original graphic novel about the Armenian Genocide. Pre-Covid, the studio partnered with legacy brand 1First Comics, helping the former 1980s powerhouse re-establish itself in the comic book world. With hundreds of comic book titles carrying the Devil’s Due brand, today it continues to sail head first into the exciting, choppy waters of comics in search of what treasures await. Devil’s Due Studios titles are distributed by Diamond Comic Distributors, Simon & Schuster, and Lunar Distribution (through Massive Indies). |
